Tuesday, 3:30am. I woke up to find my dog Ginger shaking in the corner with vomit, pee and poop around her. I wrapped her in a towel and drove her to the vet. The fog was so thick I had to slow down to 15 mph. After an examination the vet thought it was vestibular disease, a common ailment of older dogs where they lose their sense of balance.
The next day, after x-rays, they found a lump near her bladder and they wanted to operate. However, after observing her overnight they realized that something more serious was wrong, most likely a lesion in the brain. We went down to the hospital and had her put to sleep.
I hadn’t intended for this drawing to be so sad, I was just trying to capture that night as it was. Ginger, I’ll miss you.
